Near-Real-Time Satellite-Based Flood Monitoring System

Floods are the most costly natural disaster in terms of loss of life and damage to property. With researchers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, we developed automated software which uses remote sensing data and statistics to determine flood extent and socioecnomic damage. This information can be crucial for decision makers in the wake of extreme flood events, and can help alleviate loss of life and damage to property.
